Lithium Battery Charge/Discharge System for Portable Devices

Lithium Battery Charge/Discharge System for Portable Devices

This is used at the last inspection stage of large lithium battery production. It performs an automatic charge/discharge function, and also calculates capacity in accordance operational pattern.

The Need for high-capacity Lithium Batteries.

Mobile devices such as cellular phone, digital cameras, MP3fs, etc., are in huge demand on the world market today. With this ever-increasing demand comes the need for batteries with greater capacity (measured in mAh) since the new breed of cellular phone now double and triple for cameras, phones, etc. As phones in the past were only communication devices, the batteries designed for that generation are now proved to be insufficient.

[System Design]

Lithium Battery Charge/Discharge System for Portable Devices

[Features]

1. A single inspection unit can test 960 batteries.

A single inspection unit consists of 15 smaller units, each with a 64-circuit output capacity. As a single PC can control these separate units, 960 batteries can be inspected. If desired, doubling the output capacity of each unit to 128 can further increase the battery inspection capacity.

2. Guaranteed high degree of precision.

A constant current of 2mA can be measured with an error of ±0.1% and constant 2mV voltage with an error of±0.05% can be measured in our origina. high precision 64 (or 128) circuits instantly and precisely.

3. Improved capacity calculation.

By taking into account the surrounding temperature of the battery, measured capacities can be adjusted for temperature, yielding improved capacity calculations.

4. Compact design.

The size of the charge/discharge unit has been reduced so that it fits into the commercial 19-inch rack.

5. Energy saving through exact capacity calculation.

When energy from a battery is discharged, excess power is returned to the power supply. This is called 'Regeneration', and it is very useful for saving energy.
